St Margaret Life's Hope is a non-profit organisation based in Dorset. Dedicated to working with the local Lamu community in Kenya, we help support, educate and transform the lives of those who need it most and through us we aim to give people the power to overcome poverty, injustice and inequality.
By supplying our supported community with the skills, resources and freedom of choice that help people make more informed life choices, they can address their own development needs and give back to their local community.
St Margaret Life's Hope was setup 14 years ago by Margaret Farman to help the people of Lamu. Margaret originally from the Lamu district herself moved to England 20 years ago after meeting her husband Richard in Kenya. The couple, who have a 10-year-old daughter, try to visit their farm in Africa every year.
Since she was a young woman, Margaret has been giving money to support the less fortunate members of the Lamu community. Paying for patient medicine, ensuring orphans are looked after, educated, teaching adults about birth control and paying for street children to go to college – a huge undertaking. More about what we do.
We'd love to hear from you, whether its regarding a donation, words of encouragement or just to say hello.
